We may never be able to create a nerd nerd. They're only possible in recursive xzibit space at extremely low temperatures. Sadly, it's no longer cool anymore.

I'm a Geek!According to this definition of nerds, a ner nerd would be someone that is socially awkward around other nerds, perhaps?
I was under the impression that the difference between the two (according to OED, as I recall, which as we all know, is the geek book of law) is that a geek is an expert in multiple subjects whereas a nerd is only an expert in one, and that any other use of the two terms is completely subjective. Still, I am highly amused.Dylan38 months ago#447reply

Yeah dork I have found can be used interchangeably, its pretty subjective and depends on location and age. Though before that slang definition there was:
A dork is: is Dork fish or the Australasian snapper fish (Chrysophrys auratus)
also:
A dork is: a whale penis. look it up.
But since I used google for this, I'm neither geek nor nerd nor dork...I prefer scholar, I love to learn all I can, whether I remember it later or not. "Because knowledge is power! --GI JOE!!!" heh XDmo go gai pan man38 months ago#504reply
Dorks are ..To those who keep asking about Dorks -
Geeks are smart people who obsess over something obscure.
Nerds are socially awkward smart people.
Dorks are socially awkward stupid people who think they're smart.
Geek is a more general term that includes Nerd. Every Nerd is a Geek, but not every Geek is a Nerd. Both are intelligent and obsessed, the difference is social skill.
There should be a special term for people who spend their time talking about the precise definitions of terms like 'Geek' and 'Nerd.'Neek? Gerd?38 months ago#511reply

What these words mean.Everyone defines these things differently, I have always understood it to be quite simple, Nerds and Geeks are generally into the same obscure cultural items "Nerd/geek culture" The only real difference being that the title of Nerd carries with it some implication of intelligence, where as geeks are just normal kids who are really into star wars. Reference Pop culture, people always cheat off nerds not geeks. What it all means?!38 months ago#514reply

A geek is a circus performer that bites the heads off of live chickens and does various other odd shit for people's entertainment. They were popular in the 19th century and therefore pre-date the General Electric company, causing me to doubt that accuracy of that statement.Peter38 months ago#518reply

xDUnlike everyone here who is arguing about the definition of "geek" and "nerd", I enjoyed this comic. I know myself to either be a nerd or a geek, but I'm not normal. xD I think people need to just lighten up, laugh at themselves every once in a while, and quit being so freaking serious about everything.Morgan38 months ago#573reply

Who cares? Neither one of them gets laid.Anonymous38 months ago#581reply
The way I see it is that a nerd is a highly intelligent person who usually lacks physical prowess and are socially awkward. A nerd can be either a geek or a dork. Geeks are highly motivated and obsessed with one subject and are extremely knowledgeable about it. They can also be referred to as buffs. A dork is the opposite. Not always stupid, just unmotivated to learn too much about anything. They don't necessarily care about what other people think of them. Both can have the tendency to be socially awkward, except geeks tend to be very sociable with other geeks that share the same interests where as dorks are generally loners. Well this is all simply my opinion anyway. Anonymous38 months ago#582reply

See, I always thought it was the other way around. The way I see it, a nerd is interested in or obsessed with a particular subject (often but not always obscure). So you could have a band nerd or a math nerd or a history nerd or something like that. A geek, then, is a nerd who is interested in computers and programming, and often math as well, and is generally more socially awkward than other nerds. Apparently this is not the general opinion, though. In the end, though, I suppose labels like these can only go so far because everyone is different.Geek nerd36 months ago#1422reply
